Purpose

This is a training opportunity within the Public Safety Department’s Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD). Successful applicants will undergo 18 months of intensive training at the JMPD Training Academy. Upon completion, trainees will be considered for appointment as full-fledged Metropolitan Police Officers.

Stipend

A stipend will be provided during training in accordance with the City’s policy.

Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Be a South African citizen.

• Possess a Grade 12 Certificate or NQF Level 4 equivalent.

• Be a resident within Johannesburg’s metropolitan area (original proof of residence is required).

• Hold a valid driver’s license (minimum Code B – no learner’s licenses accepted).

• Be between 18 and 35 years old.

• Be physically and mentally fit, supported by a comprehensive medical certificate.

• Be proficient in English.

• Have no criminal record, no civil judgments related to fraud or corruption, and be willing to undergo background vetting.

• Be prepared to carry a firearm, wear a uniform, and work shifts in all weather conditions.
