Job Title: IEC Election Support Staff & Voting Station Officials
Purpose
Successful applicants will assist the Electoral Commission with the implementation of voting and results processes at local voting stations. These roles are critical for the smooth operation of the elections.
Key Responsibilities
- Support voting and results processes during elections
- Assist with voter registration and address collection
- Operate the Voter Management Device (VMD)
- Prepare and clean the voting station before and after use
- Manage queues and assist voters with special needs
- Ensure accurate vote counting and result submission
- Maintain impartiality and professionalism at all times
- Safeguard sensitive election materials and data
Skills and Competencies
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure on election day
- Respect for electoral laws and regulations
- Professional, courteous, and impartial conduct
- Basic tech skills to operate IEC equipment like the VMD
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for IEC job vacancies , applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen
- Be a registered voter
- NOT have held political office or campaigned for a political party in the last 5 years
- NOT be affiliated with any politically aligned organisations
- Have no serious criminal record
- Be proficient in at least one local language spoken in the municipality
