Job Purpose

The successful candidates will be responsible for carrying out cleaning and refuse-related operational duties. The role supports the City of Johannesburg’s mandate to maintain clean, safe, and healthy public spaces.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

General Workers at Pikitup will be expected to perform the following tasks:

• Street cleaning and sweeping
• Cleaning refuse bins and designated areas
• Collecting, stacking, and loading refuse bags
• Bin delivery, replacement, and removal
• Lane flushing and related cleaning activities
• Adhering to health and safety procedures
• Wearing prescribed protective clothing at all times
• Reporting incidents, injuries, and faulty equipment
• Engaging with community members when required
