Available Learnership Positions
The programme includes the following opportunities:
- 9 Engineering Learnerships (Section 18.2) – For unemployed youth from Blouberg and Musina Municipalities
- 1 Engineering Learnership (Section 18.1) – For Venetia Mine employees
Successful candidates will enter into a four-year fixed-term learnership contract that combines theoretical learning with practical on-the-job training.
Engineering Trades Available
Applicants can apply for training in the following artisan trades:
- Boilermaker
- Instrument Mechanician
- Electrician
- Fitter and Turner
- Diesel Mechanic
- Transportation Electrician (Auto Electrician)
- Rigger
These trades lead to QCTO Occupational Qualifications registered through the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA), preparing learners to qualify as artisans.
Training and Learnership Structure
Successful candidates will receive structured artisan training consisting of:
- Formal training at the De Beers accredited training centre in Randfontein
- On-the-job practical training at the Venetia Mine
- Mentorship and technical coaching from experienced artisans
- Completion of a QCTO Occupational Qualification
This training will prepare learners to become fully qualified artisans in their chosen engineering trade.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Requirements
Applicants must have one of the following:
Grade 12 (Matric) with:
- Mathematics (not Maths Literacy)
- Physical Science
- English
- Minimum 40% pass in all subjects

N2 Certificate with 4 relevant subjects for the trade

NCV Level 3 with at least 40% in Mathematics and relevant subjects
Additional Requirements
Applicants must also:
- Be able to travel to the training centre in Randfontein (transport provided by the company)
- Be able to obtain a Red Ticket (medical fitness certificate) for mining
- Pass SAPS criminal record verification
- Pass psychometric and technical assessments
- Provide proof of residence
- Submit certified copies of qualifications
