Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to perform the following duties:
Customer Service
- Follow Dis-Chem customer service policies and procedures
- Build professional relationships with customers
- Handle customer queries about store merchandise
- Report customer complaints or compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
- Maintain the required customer turnover rate
Cash Handling & Transactions
- Process all purchases and record transactions accurately
- Accept payments including cash, bank cards, vouchers, and coupons
- Manage cash flow responsibly
- Ensure all line voids and price changes are authorised by a supervisor

Secure cash according to company policies
Loyalty Programme Processing
Cashiers will also process loyalty cards for the following partners:
- Discovery Health
- Medihelp Medical Scheme
- Momentum Multiply
- Legacy Lifestyle
- Absa Rewards
- eBucks
Security & Compliance
- Ensure all items are scanned and paid for
- Follow Dis-Chem security policies and procedures
- Handle daily takings confidentially
- Identify and report suspicious behaviour
- Protect personal POS login credentials
Required Skills and Competencies
Applicants should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Knowledge of cash register operations
- Experience processing sales, refunds, and payments
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication skills
- Good problem-solving ability
- Strong time management skills
- Trustworthiness and honesty
- Ability to analyse basic reports
- Presentable and professional appearance
- Strong emotional intelligence and social awareness
