Required Skills and Knowledge

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Good verbal, reading, and writing skills
  • Basic knowledge of water distribution systems
  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
  • Basic knowledge of flood control
  • Record-keeping skills

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Water Control Aid, you will be responsible for:

  • Opening and closing sluices according to regulations
  • Managing water distribution sheets
  • Performing minor maintenance on infrastructure
  • Assisting with clearing blocked pipes and canals
  • Removing algae and water grass from canals
  • Conducting daily inspections of water systems
  • Reporting faults such as cracks, leaks, and embankment issues
  • Maintaining cleanliness of canals, structures, and equipment
  • Painting sluices and ensuring proper marking
  • Keeping equipment safe and secure

Minimum Requirements
