The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) is recruiting qualified Security Officers to join its Infrastructure Management Branch: Northern Operations. These positions are based at Nandoni Dam and Mokolo Pump Station, offering stable government employment and opportunities to contribute to safeguarding South Africa’s critical water infrastructure.
Post 13/211: Security Officer (Ref No: 060526/08 & 060526/09)
Salary: R193,359 per annum (Level 04) Centres:
- Nandoni Dam – Ref No: 060526/08 (X16 Posts)
- Mokolo Pump Station – Ref No: 060526/09 (X10 Posts)
Duties
- Control the movement of people, vehicles, and goods into and out of National Key Points (NKPs).
- Respond to security incidents, including arresting unauthorized individuals when necessary.
- Conduct surveillance and monitor premises and perimeters.
- Prevent unauthorized removal or entry of equipment, documents, and stores.
- Record and administer compliance incidents in occurrence books/registers.
Requirements
- NQF Level 4 Certificate.
- Professional Membership: PSIRA Grade A.
- Certificates: National Key Point Training Certificate and Firearm Competency Certificate.
- Knowledge of:
- National Key Point Act 102 of 1980 and regulations.
- Labour Relations Act 66 of 1995.
- Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1997.
- South African Constitution and Strategic Intelligence Act.
- Minimum Information Security Standards (MISS).
- Skills: Threat and risk assessment, investigation, interviewing, surveillance, and incident response.
- Strong communication (verbal & written), report writing, and conflict management skills.
- Understanding of legislative, policy, and safety frameworks governing the public sector.
- Ethical conduct, accountability, and ability to work under pressure.
