The Vodacom Foundation ICT Learnership is focused on developing digital skills and workplace readiness for unemployed youth.

The programme targets young people living near Vodacom ICT Centres across South Africa, especially those from disadvantaged communities.

It provides structured training and real exposure to ICT environments, preparing learners for entry-level roles in the technology sector.


What the Youth Academy IT Learnership Offers

During the programme, learners may gain experience in:

  • Installation of IT equipment
  • Basic system analysis support
  • Database design fundamentals
  • Computer troubleshooting
  • Connectivity support services

These are practical skills used in workplaces such as:

  • Schools
  • Municipal offices
  • Businesses

Most importantly, learners receive a monthly stipend, helping reduce financial barriers to full-time training.


Programme Duration and Structure

The Vodacom Foundation Youth Academy IT Learnership runs for:

12 Months (Fixed-Term Contract)

Employment Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be unemployed
  • Not currently receiving another bursary
  • Not receiving similar financial support
  • Not have completed similar ICT training before

  • Must be between 18 and 34 years old

Residency Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be South African citizens
  • Live near a participating Vodacom ICT Centre
  • Have a valid South African ID

Socio-Economic Requirement

Applicants must:

  • Come from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Preferably attend Quintile 1–3 schools

  • Mathematics OR Mathematical Literacy
