This exciting programme gives young South Africans the opportunity to gain practical retail experience while working toward a nationally recognised qualification through W&RSETA.

BUCO Learnerships 2026 Overview

The BUCO Learnership Programme is designed to provide learners with both classroom-based training and practical workplace experience within a retail environment. Successful participants will develop essential retail and customer service skills that can help build a long-term career in the wholesale and retail industry.

There are currently 120 learnership opportunities available across 38 locations nationwide.

What You Will Learn

During the programme, learners will gain practical experience and theoretical knowledge in several retail functions, including:

• Customer service and assisting shoppers
• Merchandising and shelf restocking
• Point-of-sale (POS) support
• Store housekeeping and cleanliness
• Retail operations and procedures
• Workplace health and safety practices
• Record keeping and reporting

Learners will also be required to complete assessments, assignments, and a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) in line with W&RSETA requirements.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the BUCO Learnerships 2026 programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must be unemployed
• Grade 12 / Matric certificate
• Basic numeracy and literacy skills
• South African citizen
• Clear criminal record
• Must be eligible for a W&RSETA learnership
• Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
• Must not have previously completed an unemployed learnership
