Valterra Platinum Engineering Learnership Programme

The Valterra Platinum Engineering Learnership Programme 2026 combines classroom-based theoretical training with practical workplace experience.

Learners will receive training relevant to their selected engineering trade and gain hands-on exposure in a mining environment.

The programme is particularly suitable for unemployed South Africans who want to build careers in engineering, maintenance and artisan-related occupations.

Upon successful completion of the required training and assessments, learners can work towards obtaining a nationally recognised artisan qualification.

Valterra Platinum Learnership Requirements

Applicants for the Valterra Platinum Engineering Learnership must meet the minimum academic and technical requirements.

Applicants must have:

• Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics, not Mathematical Literacy.
• Physical Sciences and English.
• A minimum mark of 40% in each required Grade 12 subject.
• An N2 qualification or higher, with all four required subjects passed, including Mathematics and Engineering Science, in the relevant engineering discipline.

Alternatively, applicants may have:

• An NCV Level 4 qualification in the appropriate trade.
• A minimum of 40% in all subjects.

Applicants should also ensure that their N2 subjects correspond with the trade for which they are applying.
