This position is responsible for professional security protection, safeguarding, safety, and security of assets, property, staff, students, and all visitors within the immediate vicinity of the University.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Duties and responsibilities\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Protect the property of UJ, staff, students, and visitors through physical patrolling of the premises and access control.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that students, staff, and visitors adhere to security policies.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that physical security infrastructure (e.g. gates, streetlights, burglar proofing) are in proper working condition\u00a0and report any defects.<\/li>\n<li>Patrol University premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates\u00a0are closed.<\/li>\n<li>Identify, report, and act timeously on emergency incidents as instructed by the control room\/duty room.<\/li>\n<li>Secure crime scenes according to training until supervisors arrive.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the necessary documents are completed with regards to a specific incident.<\/li>\n<li>Take down and give an accurate statement of situations both verbally and in writing.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and operate electronic security systems when required.<\/li>\n<li>Undertake preliminary investigations into reports of offences as required.<\/li>\n<li>Provide escort duties for staff at night.<\/li>\n<li>Attend and pro-actively deal with any security-related incident, as directed by the control room operator, supervisor, or other members of the protection services management team.<\/li>\n<li>Record all incidents in the appropriate format and write concise and accurate incident reports as necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Look for abandoned bags during shift change and hand them to safekeeping.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct searches as required.<\/li>\n<li>Control the safeguarding and issuing of keys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Minimum requirements\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Grade 12 \/ Matric \/ NQF4 equivalent qualification<\/li>\n<li>Valid Grade C PSIRA registration<\/li>\n<li>Computer Literary (Basic Microsoft Packages)<\/li>\n<li>Clearance record from South African Police Services.<\/li>\n<li>Valid Driver\u2019s License<\/li>\n<li>Minimum 2 years\u2019 experience in security services<\/li>\n<li>A level of medical, psychological, and physical fitness commensurate with the inherent requirements of the position<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Location:<\/strong> Auckland Park Kingsway Campus<\/p>\n<h4><strong>How to apply<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jobs.uj.ac.za\/applicant\/index.php?controller=Listings&amp;method=view&amp;listingid=04f81541-b0be-451d-b634-d55a2cb0b1ba\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apply here online for University of Johannesburg\u00a0 Security officers Jobs.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Closing: 19 April 2024<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>University of Johannesburg invites all suitable unemployed individuals to apply for the Jobs Opportunities available in their Safety and Security division.
