Job Description

Unitrans is seeking an experienced General Worker – Assistant to support truck drivers with the loading and offloading of goods. The role also involves maintaining cleanliness and safety across the premises. Successful candidates must be hardworking, reliable, and able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

This role is physically demanding and best suited for candidates who are medically fit and comfortable working in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful General Worker will be responsible for the following duties:

• Assisting truck drivers with loading and offloading of trucks
• Ensuring outside walkways are clear and free of debris
• Cleaning and maintaining the entire premises
• Maintaining a safe and hygienic working environment
• Reporting any building maintenance or repair needs to management
• Handling adhoc duties as required by supervisors

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the Unitrans General Worker position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4 qualification
• Medically fit for manual labour
• Reliable and punctual
• Clean criminal record
• Own reliable transport to and from work
• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Ability to handle heavy equipment and cleaning machinery
• Physically able to walk, bend, push, pull, and lift repetitively
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, storage, and disposal methods
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Excellent organisational skills
• Self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision
