About the Quality Support YES Programme
The Quality Support position focuses on ensuring product quality, compliance, food safety, and quality control throughout the manufacturing process. Participants will gain hands-on experience in quality inspections, laboratory procedures, documentation management, calibration processes, and production monitoring.
This role is ideal for graduates interested in quality assurance, laboratory operations, microbiology, manufacturing quality systems, and production environments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will perform a variety of quality-related functions, including:
Quality Control and Inspection
- Inspecting all incoming raw materials, masterbatches, decoration materials, and packaging components.
- Conducting measurements and tests to verify visual and product specifications.
- Approving production start-ups and ensuring first-off samples are stored correctly.
- Performing in-process inspections and spot checks according to testing schedules.
- Ensuring line clearance before and after production runs.
- Monitoring product quality throughout manufacturing processes.
Documentation and Reporting
- Creating Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for customers.
- Maintaining accurate quality records and documentation.
- Completing quality reports and paperwork accurately.
- Recording and reporting articles placed on hold.
- Supporting data capture and quality management systems.
Stock and Non-Conformance Management
- Managing blocked and rejected stock under Quality Control.
- Communicating non-conformances to relevant departments.
- Monitoring rework processes and verifying products before release.
- Assisting with sample collection and colour matching activities.
Laboratory and Equipment Management
- Coordinating calibration of Quality Control laboratory equipment.
- Supporting laboratory testing activities.
- Maintaining quality testing schedules and procedures.
Food Safety, Health and Safety
- Reporting quality and food safety risks.
- Promoting awareness of quality, food safety, environmental, and health and safety requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with hygiene standards within the plant.
- Reporting unsafe conditions and workplace incidents.
- Supporting corrective action processes where required.
Additional Responsibilities
- Assisting with quality improvement projects.
- Supporting Quality Supervisors with ad-hoc tasks and special projects.
- Participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the ALPLA Quality Support YES Programme, applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be unemployed.
- Be between the ages of 18 and 34.
- Be medically fit.
- Not have participated in a YES Programme previously.
- Reside in one of the following areas or surrounding communities:
- Cosmo City
- Diepsloot
- Randburg
- Roodepoort
- Krugersdorp
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must possess:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Diploma in Quality Management, Quality Assurance, Microbiology, or a related field.
