About the Learnership

The Seriti Engineering Learnership is designed to develop future artisans through structured workplace training and theoretical learning. Successful candidates will receive practical experience and technical training to qualify in one of the following trades:

• Diesel Mechanic
• Auto Electrician

This programme provides valuable exposure to the mining sector while preparing learners for artisan qualifications.

Available Engineering Disciplines

Applicants may apply for one of the following trades:

Diesel Mechanic

Training focuses on servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered mining equipment and machinery.

Auto Electrician

Learners will develop skills in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems on heavy-duty mining equipment.

Applicants must clearly indicate which trade they are applying for in their application.

Required Supporting Documents

Applicants must submit the following certified documents (certified within the last three months):

• Updated CV (submitted in PDF format)
• Certified copy of South African ID
• Certified copies of qualifications
• Certified copy of valid driver’s licence
• Proof of residence

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following academic requirements:

• Grade 12 with Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy) and Physical Science, both with a minimum E symbol (40%), together with two N2 trade-related subjects, or
• Minimum N2 Certificate with four relevant trade-related subjects.

Trade Theory Requirements

Diesel Mechanic

Applicants should have relevant subjects including:

• Mathematics
• Engineering Science
• Engineering Drawing
• Diesel Trade Theory or Motor Trade Theory

Auto Electrician

Applicants should have relevant subjects including:

• Mathematics
• Engineering Science
• Industrial Electronics
• Electrical Trade Theory

Important:

• A minimum E symbol (40%) is required.
• Subjects passed with an F symbol will not be accepted.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must:

• Be willing to undergo psychometric assessments.
• Be willing to work shifts, standby duties, and call-outs when required.
• Be able to work under pressure.
• Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving abilities.
• Be able to identify faults independently.
• Be in possession of, or able to obtain, a valid Certificate of Fitness.
• Have a valid K53 South African driver’s licence.
• Have no criminal record.

Advantageous

The following will be an added advantage:

• Previous experience within the mining industry.
