Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Farm Aid role involves a wide range of practical agricultural tasks, including crop production, maintenance, and general farm support.
Crop Production Activities
Successful candidates will assist with:
- Irrigation of crops
- Soil preparation, including hoeing and cleaning
- Application of chemical crop protection using knapsack sprayers
- Harvesting, grading, weighing, packing, and storing farm produce
- Tending crops, orchards, and vineyards (pruning, weeding, etc.)
These tasks are essential for maintaining healthy crop production systems at the research facility.
General Farm Maintenance Duties
Farm Aid workers will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and functional working environment:
- Cleaning farm facilities and work areas
- Disposal of agricultural waste materials
- Cleaning, oiling, and sharpening equipment
- Loading and off-loading farm supplies
- Firefighting and fire prevention activities
These responsibilities ensure smooth daily operations on the farm.
Infrastructure Maintenance Responsibilities
