About the Fire Fighter Learnership Programme
The Stellenbosch Municipality Fire Fighter Learnership provides aspiring firefighters with structured workplace training inside an operational Fire & Rescue Services Department.
Rather than classroom-based learning alone, participants gain hands-on experience responding to emergencies under the supervision of experienced professionals.
During the programme, learners will receive practical exposure to:

Duties and Responsibilities
Successful applicants will assist with a variety of operational and emergency response duties, including:
- Responding to fire emergencies
- Participating in rescue operations
- Rendering basic emergency medical assistance
- Operating firefighting equipment
- Maintaining firefighting vehicles and apparatus
- Cleaning and maintaining fire stations
- Supporting fire prevention campaigns
