This three-year Diploma in Nursing (General) prepares students to become qualified nurses, fully equipped to register with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) and contribute meaningfully to South Africa’s public health system.

What the Programme Offers

The programme leads to a Diploma in Nursing (General), which is registered at NQF Level 6 and carries 364 credits. Once completed, graduates will be eligible to register with the South African Nursing Council (SANC), opening doors to a professional nursing career across the country.

The programme is offered at four Limpopo College of Nursing campuses:

• Giyani Campus
• Sovenga Campus
• Thohoyandou Campus
• Sekhukhune Campus

These campuses are fully equipped to provide quality theoretical and practical nursing education.

Admission Requirements for 2026

To be eligible for the Student Nurse Training Programme, applicants must meet both academic and administrative requirements.

Minimum Academic Requirements:

Applicants must have either a Senior Certificate with matric exemption or a National Senior Certificate with a Bachelor’s Degree pass. A minimum of 24 points on the APS scale is required (excluding Life Orientation).

Compulsory Subjects:

You must have passed English, Life Sciences (or Biology), Physical Sciences, and Mathematics at a minimum of HG E or Level 4. If you’re applying with Mathematical Literacy, you must have achieved at least Level 5.

• You must be a South African citizen.
• A non-refundable application fee of R150 is required (note: no cash payments accepted).
