- West Rand – 6 Posts
- Motsweding – 6 Posts
- Capital Projects (Heidelberg) – 1 Post
Applicants should note that successful candidates may be required to travel and stay near construction sites throughout Gauteng depending on operational requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- NQF Level 1 qualification or ABET Level 4 certificate (Grade 9,10,11,12) )
- No previous work experience required
- Ability to read and write
- Good communication skills (advantageous)
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Willingness to travel throughout Gauteng when required
Road Worker Duties
Successful applicants will be responsible for:
- Performing routine road construction and maintenance activities
- Repairing potholes and sealing road cracks
- Surfacing and re-gravelling roads
- Constructing and maintaining culverts, side drains and stormwater drainage systems
- Cleaning road reserves, sidewalks, drainage structures and rest areas
- Installing, repairing and maintaining road signs, road markings and road furniture
- Assisting with road fencing, guardrails, gabions and pipe-laying projects
- Operating hand tools, small machinery and specialised equipment safely
- Protecting departmental tools, equipment and materials
- Maintaining clean and safe construction sites
- Complying with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations
- Assisting with traffic accommodation during road maintenance projects
- Performing additional duties as instructed by supervisors
